Define Development - Terminologies used in Chromatography?

Development is the process of passing a mobile phase over the adsorbent or support. During the development the samples are isolated as zones or bands. The process of development is also called 'elution'. The mobile phase used for elution is called 'eluting agent'. The entire process is represened as chromatogram in which zones are detected or visualized.
