Can/receptacle - This may be performed manually or by using sophisticated filling machinery. The ratio of liquid to solid in the can must be cautiously controlled and the can should not be overfilled. A headspace of 6-9 mm depth (6-8% of the container volume) above the level of food in the can is usual.
