Define about the Mid-day Meal Programme?

The National Programme of Nutritional Support to Primary Education commonly known as the Mid Day Meal (MDM) Scheme (was launched in August 1995) is intended to give a boost to universalization of education and simultaneously impact upon the nutritional status of children in primary classes. The major component of MDM is food supplementation, with the food supplement/meal providing roughly 350-450 Kcal and 20-30g protein per child, which is expected to meet one- third of the energy and half of the protein recommended dietary intakes of the children.
