There is a simple relationship between the focal length F ,the object distance P and the image distance Q of a thin lens fig(1).

If F measured in mete ,then 1/F is the lens strength in diopter(D).
-The focal length of a combination of tow lenses with focal length F1,and F2 is given by                        

1/F=1/F1+1/F2
