This assignment requires you to carry out the first part of a research project on the topic of "Cross cultural communication in the workplace". You can take any approach to this topic. You will need to narrow the topic down considerably for your assignment.

You need to identify two variables related to your specific topic. One of which must be an independent variable and one a dependent variable By the 9th August you must be very familiar with two of these. You also need to understand how gender and position in an organisation (eg worker, supervisor, and manager) is related to your other two variables and cross cultural communication. You need to start collecting relevant journal articles right from the start of the semester and start reading to become familiar with your topic and variables.

The assignment has two parts.

1. Research Question: Develop one research question from the topic above using at least two of the variables you have identified. These should follow logically from the argument you will present in the literature review.

2. Literature review: Write a review of the literature as it would be written in a journal article (up to 800 words) based on your research question. Included in the review must be the identification of the problem, justification for the study; a critical summary of the debate related to the research questions, including a description/explanation of the role of at least one dependent and one independent variable.
