Coordinates for the point - graphing, Algebra

Assignment Help:

Coordinates for the point

The listed first number is the x-coordinate of the point and the second number listed is the y-coordinate of the point. The ordered pair for any specified point, (x, y) , is called the coordinates for the point.

Origin

The point on which the two axes cross is called the origin and has the coordinates (0, 0) .

Note as well that the order of the coordinates is significant.  For instance, the point ( 2,1)is the point which is two units to the right of the origin and after that 1 unit up, whereas the point (1, 2) is the point that is 1 unit to the right of the origin & then 2 units up.
