Answer

If construction of concrete carriageway is carried out in summer, extension joints could not be necessary. Extension of concrete carriageway is primarily due to seasonal changes with an enhancement in temperature from which during construction to ambient temperature. However, if construction of concrete carriageway takes place in summer, concrete carriageway will undergo contraction in next winter, thus space available in contraction joints be capable of accommodate future expansion in next summer.
