To the left of the Command Window, there are 2 tabs for the Current Directory Window and Workspace Window. If the Current Directory tab is selected, the files stored in that directory are displayed. This default configuration can be changed by clicking the Desktop, or using the icons at the top-right corner of each window: either an 'x', which will close that specific window; or a curled arrow, that in its starting state pointing to the upper right lets you undock that window.
