This methods implies the collection of information by way of investigator own observation without interviewing the respondents. While the observational methods may be suitable in case of some studies several things of interest such as attitudes opinions motivations and other intangible state of mind cannot be observed. Another aspect of this method is that it is non reactive as data are collected unobtrusively without the direct participation of the respondent. This method sis an expensive method sand the information provided by this method is also very limited. As such this method is not suitable in inquiries where large samples are concerned.
