When Abraham Lincoln jailed the Copperheads it was not justifiable. Although the Copperheads caused some trouble, they were just expressing their freedom of speech and press. Abraham Lincoln took away some of their civil liberties such as Habeas corpus, which is a protection against unlawful imprisonment.
