The phrase chemotherapy that literally means chemical therapy or chemical treatment was coined in the year 1913 by Paul Ehrlich, the father of modern chemotherapy. He explained chemotherapy as the requirement of chemicals (drugs) to injure or destroy infections micro-organisms with no causing any injury to the host.
