Thus a job specification contains information on personnel characteristics that are believed to be necessary for the performance of the job. It is therefore sometimes referred to as employee specification.
1. Characteristics of job specification: such as physique, body size and strength, height, weight, vision, endurance, age, sex, education, language etc.
2. Mental aptitudes or psychological characteristics: such as intelligence, ingenuity, judgement, analyst ability, creativity, mental concentration and alertness, resources fullness, capacity for leadership, ability to make decisions, initiative and drive etc.
3. Personal characteristics or traits: such as appearance, features, dress, posture, voice, skill in dealing with others, ability to hold responsibilities etc.
4. Emotional characteristics: such as emotional maternity and stability, aggressiveness or submissiveness, temperament etc.
5. Social characteristics: such as adaptability in human relationships, ability to mould and influence opinions, etc.
