Characteristics of a Transmitted Pulse
The below animation depicts the boundary behavior of a pulse that is moving along a less dense incident and medium towards that is approaching a more dense medium. Remember that when the pulse reaches the end of the medium, a portion of its energy is transmitted into the denser medium in the form of a transmitted pulse that is a portion of its energy remains in the less dense medium within the form of a reflected pulse.
