Cargo Handling Facilities:

All water transport terminals require cargo handling facilities. Cranes of various sizes are used. In docks, traveling cranes are popular (Figure).

For handling containers, large capacity cranes are used.

For dry bulk handling (like coal, iron ore, food grains, food grains fertilizers, etc.), conveyor belts or bucket conveyors are used.

Liquid bulk material (oil) is handled by using special pumps.
