The Vermont Wind Assessment Program led by Vermont Tech has measured the wind velocity at 25 locations in the state of Vermont in 2005 and 2006 .

The results are provided in the table below for the site of Shelburne:

The information is provided here in a Weibull's distribution. We will use here for simplicity a Rayleigh's distribution with the same average speed:

a. Justify the choice of the Rayleigh's distribution.

We can compare on the graph below the two distributions for the month of November 2005 which has the Weibull's coefficient the most different from 2:

e. Assuming that the exponent of the shear effect equation is 0.14, extrapolate the values of b, c, and d to a 50m elevation above ground elevation.

The site is Class 1.
