Calculate the area of remaining piece of cardboard, Mathematics

A piece of cardboard in the shape of a trapezium ABCD & AB || DE, ∠BCD = 900, quarter circle BFEC is removed. Given AB = BC = 3.5 cm, DE = 2 cm. Calculate the area of remaining piece of cardboard.                     (Ans:6.125 cm2)

Ans:    Area of remaining portion = Area of trap - Area of quadrant

= 1/2 x 3.5 (5.5 + 3.5) - 1/4 x 22/7 x3.5x3.5

= 15.75 - 19.25/2 = 15.75 - 9.625

= 6.125 cm2
