Survival and growth of microorganisms is also affected by the temperature. According to their temperature requirement, microbes may be categorized as:
Psychrophiles - Organisms that prefer low temperature.
Psychrotrophs - Organisms that prefer high temperature but can grow at low temperature also.
Mesophiles - Organisms that grow at temperature 20-40°C. Most of the disease causing organisms belongs to this category.
Thermotrophs - Organisms that tolerate high temperature.
Thermophiles - Organisms that grow at high temperature.
