Cache Misses

  • Compulsory misses-  it is caused by initial access to a block that has never been in the cache (also called cold start misses
  • Capacity miss - it is caused when the cache can't contain the whole block needed at the time of execution of a program
  • Conflict misses- it  occurs in set-associative or direct -mapped cache when multiple block compete for the similar set (also called collision missed)
