If I were asked how to characterize the 18th century, would a good answer be that it was a time where the colonies get emersed into a broader British-Atlantic dynamic than in the 17th century, and it was a time where the colonies were proud to be apart of the British empire, but after the British Parliament taxed the colonies without having any colonial representatives in the British government, the colonies gradually began to break away from Britain and eventually declared and fought for their independence and formed their own country?
