Boundary ratio of weight of hammer to weight of pile, Civil Engineering

Assignment Help:

Question

If n a number of codes, they boundary ratio of weight of hammer to weight of pile for pile driving. What will be the key reason for this?

Answer

As a hammer with first motion collides with a stationary pile, transfer of energy is mainly efficient when two masses are analogous. That is cause why some codes limit ratio of weight of hammer to weight of pile to be additional than 0.5. If weight of hammer is besides low, as a rule of energy during hammer driving is distributed to hammer and this grounds tension induced in hammer and marks in unproductive transfer of energy.
