Q.Illustrate the Basic structure of polymers?

Ans.

Polymers are large organic compounds made of regularly repeating units.

Plastics are made of polymers.

Polymers are also found in living things. DNA and proteins are examples of polymers.

A simple polymerization reaction is the reaction of many ethylenes to make polyethylene. Notice that the basic unit is ethylene ( -CH2-CH2- ).

Starches and cellulose are natural polymers called carbohydrates. The basic units of carbohydrates are sugars such as glucose and fructose.

Starch and cellulose are polymers of glucose. Sucrose is made of one unit of glucose and one unit of fructose:
