The present research endeavours to shed light onto the role that creativity and art play in overcoming boredom in the primary classroom setting. Boredom along with other learning obstacles can make school appear dull and monotonous. The findings of this study demonstrate that creativity and art are perceived as playing a key role in overcoming boredom in the primary classroom and in providing a quality education to all students. The findings reveal that the respondents in this research attach importance and value to creativity in education, however, a number of drawbacks and restrictions for example dense syllabi, lack of resources and emphasis on getting right answers, are exposed. The results authenticate both local and international literature. The research proposes recommendations on how creativity and art can be incorporated in educational practices and on how teachers can make use of this approach to ensure more interesting and effective learning within schools in Malta.
