Disadvantage of Electro Chemical Machining

1. The tools are more difficult to design.

2. Initial cost is high.

3. Power consumption is high.

4. The electrolyte is corrosive to equipment, work piece, fixtures etc.

Application of Electro Chemical Machining

1. Small deep hole.

2. To machine through holes of any cross-section.

3. To machine blind holes and shaped cavities such as in forging dies.

4. To machining jet engine blade cooling holes.
