Lighting of Approach to Runway

A good system of identification of the runway when landing is to provide six transverse cross-bars of lights placed at right angles to the centre line of the runway, spaced at 150 m, extending to 900 m from the runway end. A visual approach slope indicator (VASI) facilitates the pilot to approach at the correct height.

Runway Lighting

The centre line and edges of the runway are provided with lights. The spacing is 15 m for the centre line and 60 m for the edge lines.

Lighting of Taxiways

The taxiways are lighted similar to runways.

Apron Lighting

Apron lighting is provided by means of high masts.
