Advantage

1. It is a useful technique for estimating fungal and actinomycetes growth.

Disadvantages

1. It is time consuming and not very sensitive.

2. Bacterial mass is very small, so a large volume of bacterial sample is needed to collect a sufficient measurable quantity.
