Acute Complications of PTCA :  The incidence of complications after PTCA that require emergency surgery has reduced considerably in the present era. Introduction of stents, perfusion catheters and excellent medical management have all contributed to this. In the initial periods of angioplasty surgical team and operating room used to be stand-by when angioplasty is done. If there is haemodynamic collapse after angioplasty, insertion of IABP, percutaneous cardiopulmonary bypass and emergency CABG may be required.
