3-variable K-maps have 8 squares which arenormally arranged in 4 columns and 2 rows.Columns are labeled with 2 variables.

The columns are arranged so that either A or B changes state for a single horizontal movement but not both.

A single horizontal movement between the leftmost and rightmost columns results in only 1 variable changing in the associated minterms.

The K-map could be drawn on a ring with the left hand column and right hand column adjacent to each other.
