Question

You are on patrol when you hear one of your co-workers call in a traffic stop. You head over to his location to back him up. As you arrive, you can tell that the officer and the motorist are in a heated verbal confrontation. Just as you get out of your car, your co-worker walks away from the driver and says, "Go ahead and complain you prick!" The driver pulls away in a huff and the officer comes up to you. He tells you the story of how the driver really got his goat and that he should not have said those things. Then he asks if you "have his back" if the guy complains because he recently received a written reprimand for coming to work late and another complaint will cause him to be suspended. What do you do?
