From Theory and Practice in Policy Analysis by M.Grander Morgan, This chapter introduces and describes several different common types of models used in policy analysis. You are probably familiar with some of these, but it is a nice summary of the different approaches that are commonly used in government analyses, particularly those that are about energy and environmental issues. A deeper understanding of how these models work can help us better think about what these models can really tell us when we run into them in reports or analyses.
