Many hotels now test all employees who have accidents at work for the presence of illegal drugs. Assume that you are a GM, that this is the case in your hotel, and all employees are made aware of these during induction. Assume also that an excellent employee at your hotel slipped and fell at work. Upon receiving medical treatment, it was confirmed the employee tested positive for marijuana use. Because you are a drug free hotel, your options are to terminate the employee or to suspend the employee and mandate a 30 day drug cleanse program that the employee must complete. The treatment program would be followed by 2 years of mandatory, random drug testing that the employee must pass or be automatically terminated.
