Article Review Guidelines

For this assignment, each student is to prepare an Article Review and PowerPoint Presentation. 

Along with the power point presentation, you should also attach an electronic  copy of the article being reviewed or the Internet link to the article. You are to prepare a written review of the article presented  and submit the Article Review (including an electronic copy of the original article) to the Article Review Drop Box. 

Prepare a written review of the article. The article review should include:

A summary of the article in the student’s own words

Students own comments on the article, 

The relevance of the article to the management field. 

A brief summary (flavor) of other students questions/ comments made during the presentation.   

Usually, the article review should be about two pages

What is to be submitted to the Drop Box?

o The “written review”

o Electronic Copy or the Internet link of the article presented

o Power Point presentation made

Publications:

Wall Street Journal - Information Technology(IT) applications (usually Thursdays - also appear on other days) 

New York Times - IT applications (usually appear on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays) 

Business Week 

Forbes 

Fortune 

Information Week 

CIO (Chief Information Officer) 

Newsweek, Time, and US News & World Report 

Any other - please clear with the instructor.

Articles:

Should be less than 3 months old. 

Should focus on the impact of IT on companies, on how it impacts  the business practices, and their employees. Should not be too technical. You should be able to explain the article and if you can’t understand the article,  it should not be presented. If you are not sure about the appropriateness of the article, please check with the instructor.

A major part of the grade depends on the relevance of the article to the course and to the Business World.

You should use own words to describe the application and should not reproduce the article even using quotes and you should provide your own opinions (whether the application is good, where it can be used, whether it will have a significant impact on the companies who use it, etc). 

You should relate the article to the course material and explain how the article is relevant to the course and to the audience (the Information Systems students).

The written review should not exceed two pages. The written review should include full bibliographical reference to the article.

Deliverables:

1. Written review of the article in student's own words.  Should include a brief summary of the comments made by the students on the article. Should be about two pages. You are also to submit an electronic copy of the article you reviewed. A power point presentation explaining the article to others (as if the presentation is made in the class).
