Part 1:

I'd like to get a graphical representation of your understanding of cell division. One great tool for you to organize your thoughts on this topic is CONCEPT MAPPING. For an explanation of this handy type of diagram, please read this Concept Mapping page I put together for you.

Here's a summary and some tips:

Pick one of the sets of words below that I've provided for you.
Rank these from broadest term/concept to narrowest, if possible
On a piece of paper, in MS Powerpoint or Word, with a mobile app like "Inspiration Maps" or just a drawing app...start with the broadest term in the middle.
Draw a line, with an arrow going one or both ways (whichever way you're wanting your viewers to read the relationships between these 2 terms) from this first term to the next one from your ranking.
Put a "linking phrase" on that line explaining the relationship between these two terms. The two terms/concepts along with the linking phrase should make a complete sentence. These connecting words are what separate Concept Maps from Mind Maps.
Keep adding and connecting words until you feel you have a complete explanation laid out; the more cross-connections you can make between your 8 or more concepts/terms, the better.
Set 1: cell cycle, cell division, S phase, gap phases, mitosis, asexual reproduction, nonylphenol, and tumor.

Cell Cycle: The cell cycle is the most comprehensive concept, encompassing the entire life cycle of a cell, from its birth to division. It includes various phases and activities.

Cell Division: Cell division is a critical event within the cell cycle. It's the process by which a cell splits into two daughter cells. Cell division is a subset of the cell cycle, occurring during specific phases.

Asexual Reproduction: Asexual reproduction is a specific form of cell division. It involves a single parent cell dividing to produce offspring. It's a type of cell division that leads to the creation of genetically identical offspring and is part of the cell cycle.

Mitosis: Mitosis is a particular type of cell division that occurs during the cell cycle. It results in the formation of two genetically identical daughter cells. Mitosis is a subset of asexual reproduction.

S Phase: The S phase is a phase within the cell cycle. It's the period when DNA replication takes place, ensuring that each daughter cell will have a complete set of genetic material.

Gap Phases (G1 and G2): Gap phases are stages within the cell cycle where the cell prepares for specific activities. G1 phase prepares for DNA replication, while G2 phase readies the cell for division.

Nonylphenol: Nonylphenol is an external factor that can disrupt the normal cell cycle. Exposure to nonylphenol can interfere with cell division and other processes.

Tumor: Tumors can develop as a result of irregularities in cell division. They represent a potential outcome of disruptions in the cell cycle, and tumors can be benign or malignant.

Part 2:

After you have completed a well-constructed concept map, I'll need an explanation of what I'm viewing.
