Develop a policy memorandum to the new Board of your selected Non-Profit Organization.
The policy memorandum is usually prepared over a short period of time-usually no more than one month, but often a matter of days. This contrasts with the issue, paper, study, or report.
A policy memo is a form of written communication used in public, non-profit, and business organizations. For this, you will research an issue, develop a "story", and write the memo.
SITUATION
- You are an expert policy analyst, and the new Board members of your Non-Profit Organization have asked for your help.
- The new Board wants you to analyze the current situation in the Non-Profit Sector, to determine the top urgent issue/s for their NPO, briefly explain it, and to provide your recommendations.
- The Board wants your vision and recommendations in the form of a policy memo because they do not have time to read anything longer.
To Write a Policy Memo That Matters: There are Three Questions your client could be struggling to answer:
1. What is happening?
2. What is working?
3. What should be done next? Your client could be struggling to answer one of these questions or all three.
