Natasha Bleish, a 17-year-old female, presents with complaints of urinary frequency, dysuria, and vaginal discharge. Her past medical history is not significant, but she has had two new sexual partners in the last 90 days. She reports she always uses protection when having intercourse. Urine dip is positive for leukocytes and nitrites. The pH test is negative. The slide is negative for clue cells. You send out a swab for sexually transmitted infections but decide to start treatment for the urinary tract infection. The treatment started is Bactrim DS.
