Peter is the head teacher of South China Association Secondary School (SCASS), which has been in Kowloon Tong since 1970. SCASS became a direct subsidy scheme school in 2010, and it therefore has greater flexibility in resources deployment, curriculum design and student admission. To maintain a good intake every year, SCASS has to provide students with quality education and support facilities which respond to the changing programmes of educational delivery.
In this regard, SCASS has decided to develop a fitness gym on the campus, which features weight training, treadmills, and a rock-climbing wall. The fitness gym is both aesthetic and functional, and more importantly, the new school facility would be appealing to parents who are concerned with the well-being of students. Although SCASS has been granted funding from the Education Bureau, you need an additional 2 million dollars (HKD2,000,000) to create the fitness gym.
As the head teacher, Peter has identified the members of the SCASS alumni association and the SCASS parent-teacher association who can offer their financial support for the fitness gym. Peter wants to plan to write letter to try to persuade them to help build the new facility. To encourage their support, he will create donor recognition wall to recognize all those who have helped to further the school's goal.
Peter need to write the letter in an appropriate format (Persuasive message). Purpose of the letter is persuading the receiver to offer donations to build a fitness gym. The communication approach/strategy is indirect approach and focus on reader benefit.
