The capacitance of an empty capacitor is 2.5 x 10^-6 F. The capacitor is connected to a 3 volt battery and charged up. A slab of dielectric material is inserted between the plates of the capacitor. As a result, an additional charge of 1.6 x 10^-6 C flows through the battery onto the other plate.

Write the equation for q in terms of K, C(subscript zero), and V.

Write the equation for q-q(subscript 0) in terms of C(subscript 0), K, and V.

Without inserting any numbers, solve the equation you derived algebraically for K, the dielectric constant of the slab of material in terms of q(subcript 0), C(subscript 0), and V.

Solve for the numerical value of K.
