Aqueous (ascorbic acid, C6H86 (aq)  reacts with aqueous  diatomic elemental bromine, Br2(aq)  according to the following unbalanced equation:  

C6H8O6(aq) + Br2 (aq) →  C6H6O6(aq) + HBr(aq).
