Academic Rhetorical Evaluation of an Essay
Purpose:
The goal of this assignment is to demonstrate that you can critique or analyze and evaluate another writer's essay-regardless of whether or not you agree with the writer's position. You need to demonstrate the ability to read and respond critically to the assigned essay as described in From Inquiry to Academic Writing chapter 2 and in chapter 16 of The McGraw-Hill handbook. By developing the ability to critique the writing of others, you should be able to construct your own essays better, expository or persuasive.
Task:
Using the information provided in the text, please evaluate the essay "Why Some societies Make Disastrous Decisions" found within our Canvas Site under the "Pages" category. Remember to convince your readers that the essay is, or is not presented logically and effectively, using specific examples from the text. Of course, you are free to disagree with the author, but you must provide credible criticism of their presentation; that is, you need to critique the author's completeness, fairness (bias), clarity, accuracy, significance, and logical presentation (logical fallacies) as mentioned in class and in the texts.
