Pseudomonas is a strain of bacteria that can usually be found in dirt and water such as hot tubs and swimming pools. It can also be found in hospitals and can occur due to wearing contact lenses for too long, creating the bacteria. Pseudomonas can be spread by healthcare workers not washing hands properly and also by equipment that is not being cleaned appropriately.

This bacteria can be deadly if a person has a weakened immune system but can occur in any part of the body such as the ears, eyes, urinary tract, stomach, can cause blood infections, and much more. People who are at risk for this infection are patients in hospitals, who have breathing problems, have catheters, wounds, and burns.

The number one ways to prevent this bacteria from spreading is hand hygiene and proper disinfection such as infection control. To treat pseudomonas is by the use of antibiotics such as pills, eye drops, or creams.
