Post from Classmate: Chapter 8 discussed pre and postnatal maturation. I found interest in extrinsic factors and individual structural constraints. It's powerful to learn and share as health, sport, and fitness professionals that while there are many structural things we cannot change, extrinsic factors can be manipulated to our benefit.

As the book states, vigorous exercise has a hand in minimizing the loss of neurons and synapse with aging. I asked my 67 year old neighbor about any noticeable changes in her skeletal structure, muscle and adipose tissue. After visiting physicians, she was told there's a change in bone density. She's noticed a fluctuation in weight post menopause and a loss of muscle mass. She acknowledges that she hasn't done cardio or lifted weights in a very long time. The lack of activity contributes to her diagnosis and lines up with information in chapter 9.
