Case: Mr. W is a 43 year-old male who underwent a laparoscopic abdominal perineal resection 3 days ago and has a permanent sigmoid colostomy. Mr. W experienced weight loss, increasing fatigue and narrowing blood tinged stools which led to his diagnosis of rectal cancer. VS stable, 02 sat 94-97%. The colostomy appliance is an open ended pouch attached to a skin barrier. Three small incisions are open to air. Mr. W is complaining of brownish liquid seeping from his pouch.
