MARKING GUIDE (RUBRIC): Article Referencing 1 marks - Title of article, Author details and Journal details (Year of publication, full names of authors, volume number, issue number and Page numbers). Discuss the key areas addressed in the journal article 6 marks - In this criteria you must identify and highlight the important points that includes theories that has been addressed in the article. Highlight the main points and the key terms used in the article. Identifying the knowledge gap addressed in the journal article 6 marks - This is an important aspect where you need to read the article and the relevant theories and discuss how this article adds value to the existing theories. All journal articles are published with a purpose. In other words, what key theories does the article highlight.

Identifying the key findings of the journal article 4 marks - Read some sections in the article in detail here you need to use your judgement on this. For example, some articles may have literature review which is important, some may have good methodology others may have good conclusions. Read one section at a time. Critically identify the strengths, weaknesses. What theory does the article address. Discuss the academic and managerial contributions made by the journal article 3 marks - In this criteria you need to conclude how it has added value to the academic learning. For example you may conclude by stating that this article addressed the importance of strategic management in large organizations.

The work must be fully referenced with in-text citations and a reference list at the end. We strongly recommend you to refer to the Academic Learning Skills materials available in the Moodle. We recommend a minimum of FIVE references, unless instructed differently by your lecturer. Unless specifically instructed otherwise by your lecturer, any paper with less than FIVE references may be failed. Work that includes sources that are not properly referenced according to the “Harvard Referencing Workbook” will be penalised.
