QUESTION: Write brief summary of Hamilton: An American Musical, and relate it to the actual events that took place in history.
Consider Eliza Hamilton and reflect on her contributions to the period of Revolution and America itself. What does this say to you about the hardships, challenges and obstacles faced by women in this era and beyond? What does this say to you about the fortitude, empowerment and contributions of women in the early history of the United States?
Alexander Hamilton's origins and background make him one of the least likely to be a leader, especially in 18th century society. This is something he is very conscious of, as he expresses in various ways in the musical. Do you think this represents a new model of leadership which dovetails with the ideals of the Revolution and grows more prominently as the nation grows? Or maybe this is just an anomaly, and Hamilton's ability to emerge from his humble beginnings is more a testament to his personal drive and luck, but we shouldn't attach too much to this in a broader historic sense? Or maybe both are true to varying degrees? Please explain.
