Task Description
You are required to inspect a building/industry for identification of the Fire Risks.
The assignment will require the students to apply the knowledge and understanding gained from the studies of OM 2023 study material in a practical environment and to carry out critical analysis and evaluation of information gathered during the inspection.
Task 1 - Write an Inspection report describing the fire hazard/fire safety deficiency/ non- compliances in the building, risk levels, standard/code violated and suggest suitable recommendations in detail.
The report should include
• Introduction - an introduction that sets the scene by stating clear aims and objectives; a description of the chosen workplace/organisation to set a context for the assignment. The student should also need to consider the legal framework within which the workplace/organisation operates (legislation within the organisation/workplace);
• A survey of a wide range of significant hazards or fire safety deficiencies or non-compliances within the workplace (Minimum 5 Numbers). The students should prioritise the identified hazards or activities and, depending on the nature and extent of identified hazards or activities. This should include an evaluation of the effectiveness of the organisation in controlling the risk arising from the hazards or activities identified and proposals to further control the hazard(s) and reduce risks;
• Conclusions which summarise the main issues identified in the candidate's work together with justified recommendations for improvement.
Instructions
• It is mandatory for students to attend the site visit; failure to do so shall result in non- evaluation of the students course work.
• Students need to identify 10 different fire hazards/issues for the preparation of fire risk assessment, and it is important to discuss the implication of their hazards/issues identified.
• Avoid repetition of hazard.
• Your answers should be self-explanatory and neatly presented.
• All hazards/deficiencies in the report should be supported with relevant photograph from the site visit (if possible).
• There is no word limit but quality of your report fetches high marks.
• Your report should provide necessary citations and references. Referencing should be in Harvard Referencing System. Cross referencing is to be followed. Failing to which mark will be deducted accordingly
• Make sure that you proof read the final document prior to submission for technical aspects such as spelling, punctuation, grammar, missing words, and acknowledgment of sources (References)
• Remember that the style of your work, and its accuracy, are indicators of how much care you have taken while preparing the assignment, and how capable you are in expressing your thoughts in a presentable and professional way
