The term for your expanded definition is wind turbine. Though you may write on a specific turbine, recommend writing your expanded definition on the general technology.

INSTRUCTIONS

Read the article, deciding how to sort the content as you read. Try to classify the information in the article according to the five expansion methods we've discussed in the course - parts analysis, operating principles, requirements and conditions, comparison and contrast, and examples.

Decide which three of the five expansion methods will provide the most effective definition.

Outline your introduction and three expansion method paragraphs. You are not required to hand this in and it will not be part of your grade. It is, however, a highly recommended practice and is crucial to achieving a high grade.

Write the topic sentence for each paragraph in your own words.

Using your outline as reference, write a complete expanded definition in the space provided. Your expanded definition should consist of four paragraphs.

Remember the formal sentence definition pattern in your introduction paragraph: [term] is [class] that [at least two distinguishing features].

You do not need to use all of the article content; only include the information needed to complete your introduction and three expansion method paragraphs.
