Assessment - comparative analysis
Description: In your allocated groups, write an evidence-based comparative analysis of three (3) different approaches to learning and teaching (2,500 words) and prepare a 5 minute video overview of the information presented in the report.
Report: Your group's analysis must consider learner engagement and teaching practice. For instance you might compare different modes (e.g. selecting three from face-to-face, blended, online, multi-modal) or different educational foci (e.g. lecturer-centred, student-centred, learning-centred) or different strategies for learning and teaching (e.g. problem-based learning, case studies, role plays etc). Your group's analysis should:
1. appraise each chosen approach considering current theory and best practice in learning and teaching to evaluate learner engagement and teaching practice;
2. critically evaluate how the chosen approaches address the principles of student learning as described throughout weeks 1-5;
3. compare/contrast each one from the other chosen approaches (may use a table); and
4. critically analyse the benefits and challenges for both learners and educators of each chosen approach.
Review subject key concepts in weeks 1-5 as a basis for planning and developing this assignment and attend week's 3 and 5 live sessions for more detailed information and a suggested approach.
Video presentation: The total presentation will last no longer than 5 minutes and include a set of no more than 10 slides. The first slide will include each learner's name, photo image and title of the presentation. The presentation content (i.e. slides 2-9) will address the 4 criteria noted above (max 2 slides per criteria) using text, images, audio and video content. The concluding slide will include all reference sources used to research and present the report.
Learning Outcome 1: Apply current theory and best practice in learning and teaching to course delivery;
Learning Outcome 2: Promote learner engagement with learning activities informed by the science of learning;
Learning Outcome 3: Enhance course delivery and review with appropriate technology, strategies and tools;
