Purpose

This Insightful Connection Essay assignment will require you use critical thought to find a connection between the reading Eminem Is Right by Ehrstadht and the reading A Life Told in Ink by Oksanen and then write an essay that makes a clear argument stating and then supporting the connection you find. As with your previous essay, this will require you make a clear argument and support it using specific evidence, but this assignment asks you to do so at a more in-depth and complex level than previously - by synthesizing the two sources to make your own point. This is a writing assignment and its drafts are worth 100 points.

Instructions and Recommendations:

Read both Eminem Is Right and A Life Told in Inkcarefully and take notes while reading each.
Complete the ICE - Synthesis Process assignment - further using the critical thinking process used in Week 7's Lecture Work to identify points/ideas in both readings and explore multiple connections between those points/ideas.
Choose one of the connections you discover between the articles and type an essay which states and explains that connection and makes an argument for that connection's validity and/or meaning.
Using the library databases, find at least one reputable article relevant to the topic of the connection you claim between the two articles and use it in your essay as supportive material for your argument.
Save your response with your last name and the word 'insightful' in the file name.
