Write an essay based on what you learned from Baby-boomers' Movie Going Experience
Interview a baby-boomer moviegoer who was born between 1946 and 1964.Ask him/her the following questions (and any others you can think of) and record the answers. Be prepared to share the information in class and write an essay based on what you learned. Compare your interviewee's answers to your own answers to these questions. How are they similar? How do they differ?
• When do you remember seeing your first movie? What was the movie? What did you think of the experience?
I saw my first movie in 1950. It was Cinderella. I think it was great experience and all of my friends were addicted to Cinderella scene at that time. We all dreamed about to failed in love with a price.
• How often did you go to the movies? What did it cost?
Not every often because most likely only couples would go to the movies for their dates and the movie ticket only cost $0.27 in 1950 which relatively cheap compare to today's movie ticket.
• What was your favorite movie as a child? As a teenager? As a young adult? What is your favorite movie today?
Cinderella was my favorite movie as a child and teenager. A summer place was my favorite movie as a young adult and I don't have a favorite movie today because I rarely watch them.
• Who were your favorite movie stars as a child? As a teenager? As a young adult? Why?
Mickey Mouse was my favorite movie star as a child because he was cute, his voice is hilarious and always be kind to everything and everyone. Phil Slivers was my favorite movie star as a teenager because he was very funny and he was a comedian. Marilyn Monroe was my favorite movie star as a young adult because she was sexy and beautiful that every girls want to be like her.
• Did you ever go see the same film over and over again? Which ones? Why?
No, I have never go see the same film over and over again because I don't think that's worthyfor the movies that I have seen once already.
• Did you read movie magazines as a teenager or young person? Which ones? Do you read any movie magazines today? Which ones?
No, I didn't read movie magazines as a teenager or young person because I am not interested in it. Also I don't read any movie magazines today for the same reason. Things I didn't like or not interested in would not become the things I like today.
• Who were your favorite actors or actresses as a young person? Why?
Marilyn Monroe was still my favorite actress as a young person because she was sexy and beautiful that every girls want to be like her. Also she was a model when most girls want to be a model at that time.
• What movies have you seen recently that you enjoyed? What do they have in common with the films you remember enjoying as a young person?
I didn't watch any movie recently but I have still remembered the common with the films that I enjoyed as a young person was love story or romance relationships that happened during the movie.
• Do you have favorite actors, actresses or directors? Who are they? Why?
Yes, Marilyn Monroe was still my favorite actressbecause she was sexy and beautiful that every girls want to be like her. Also she was a model when most girls want to be a model at that time.
• What do you like about movies today? What don't you like? Why?
I don't watch movie very often so I am not sure, but I would say I don't like the story for some movies and I like the action movies.
• How have movies changed in your lifetime? How have movie theaters changed? Which do you prefer?
Movies have become better and better qualities and there are more and more people who willing to spend money to watch movie in the movie theaters. Also the movie theaters are become bigger and bigger, they also have different size room for different movies. I will prefer the movie and the movie theater today.
• Do you own a DVD player? Do you mostly watch movies on video now or in the theater? Do you own any movie videos or DVDs? Which ones? Do you buy videos or DVDs for others? Who?
Yes, I do have a DVD player. I mostly watch movies on video now. No, I don't own any movie videos and I don't buy videos for others. Only others would buy DVDs for me.
• Do you go to movie theaters more or less frequently than you used to? Why?
Yes, I do to movie theaters less frequently than I used to because I feel like I become more like to watch TV than movie.
• If you could buy it (them), which film(s) would you own and watch today?
Comedy movie is on top of my list.
• Do you stream movies and/or subscribe to Netflix? How have the availability of these services affected your willingness to go to the theater to see a movie?
No, I don't stream movies and subscribe to Netflix. There was no affected my willingness to go to the theater to see a movie.
