Assignment - Internet as One of the Significant Recent Developments Personal Essay

Instruction - For this paper, you will be writing a personal essay. I'm leaving this assignment entirely open to what you want to write about. You may choose any topic, subject, object, place, or experience (etc.) of significance to you. The experience or topic you write about can have positive or negative associations for you, but there should be an emotional connection to what you are writing. In other words, this essay is an opportunity for you to write about something that matters to you. Your writing should be creative and can be experimental in form. Style and voice matter more than grammar or mechanics. The value of this is to stretch you as a writer and simultaneously give you a chance to think deeply about your own experiences and interests.

While what you write about is your decision, this essay needs to include key elements including description, narrative, and reflection.

This assignment asks you to write about your own experience but to make connections to the outside world as well. This means that even as you may write about yourself and your experiences, there should be some unifying theme that is relevant to others.

This does not need to be written in closed-form prose and does not follow standard academic conventions.

Format - Your final draft will be 1000 to 1500 words (double-spaced in 12-pt Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins).
