Discussion Board

Using the following guidelines, write a summary on Earthly Cycles as described in Sections 1.6 and 1.7 (pages 16-22)

The following guidelines, along with the Grading Rubric, will assist you in understanding how to earn full credit on Discussion Boards

Question 1.) A section summary should use information from the text and not taken from outside sources. Using your own words and making each paragraph into 2 to 3 bullet points is part of this assignment. Remember, that copying the material directly from the textbook is considered plagiarism and will result in a loss of points.

Question 2.) You must format the assignment by making sure that you begin with the section title and clearly identify each subheading. Remember that other students and myself have to read it and be able to easily understand which part is about a specific topic. Part of your grade is responding to a minimum of three other students. Saying "good job" is not what I am looking for and the purpose of doing this is to encourage group discussions and critical thinking about astronomy.

Question 3.) This assignment will use a bullet point format. Assignments not using this format will lose points. Be sure to identify section title and subheadings as discussed above.

Question 4.) Length always comes up when students reach out about what is expected of them. The difficulty with answering this, lies in the fact that the summary must include the entire section(s) and some students make more bullet points than others. The purpose of the assignment is to help you understand key sections of each week's reading assignment. Please consult the Rubric for Grading Discussion Board Assignments for more specific details.
